Why kids should vermicompost?

To learn the facts such as:
Our population is growing and the amount of garbage is increasing, the number of landfills is decreasing due to capacity of our mother Earth.
The importance of recycling and conserving existing source.
To respect another life form.
To learn importance of ONE and how strong the TEAM can be to learn responsibility(classroom pets)
Lessons include but not limited to measuring, observing, analyzing, recording data, and investigating.

Worms are fascinating creatures:
They don't have eyes but can sense light
No legs but they can move
No lungs but they can breath
No teeth but they can grind food
Worms don't carry any disease
Very tiny brain but they can regenerate parts of their bodies
Teacher can build a whole unit around vermicomposting, field trip to the garden, history of the worms, biology, ecology, etc. Let the kids be creative and teach parents, relatives, and friends.
Don't underestimate power of small-our worms are tiny but they make HUGE difference
